Earth Day 2023

Earth Day April 22nd, 2023

It is that time of year again where we celebrate global Earth Day. The first global Earth Day was on April 22nd 1970 and has become an annual event. This day is to demonstrate support for environmental protection and raising awareness about the huge issue of climate change.

The official theme for 2023 is,

Invest In Our Planet

The theme is focused on engaging governments, institutions, businesses, and the more than 1 billion citizens who participate annually in Earth Day to do their part’ (Earthday.org)

The ultimate goal is to keep global warming below 1.5C as anything above that will cause irreversible damage to our planet.

Kathleen Rogers, President of Earthday.org said “In 2023 we must come together again in partnership for the planet. Businesses, governments, and civil society are equally responsible for taking action against the climate crisis and lighting the spark to accelerate change towards a green, prosperous, and equitable future (…) the time is now to invest in our planet”.
