Level 3 Gas Engineering Operative

The Level 3 Gas Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard is designed for individuals who want to build a career in the gas and heating industry. This programme provides apprentices with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to install, maintain, and repair gas appliances and heating systems safely and competently.

Throughout the apprenticeship, learners develop expertise in areas such as gas safety regulations, combustion principles, pipework installation, appliance servicing, fault diagnosis, and system testing. Apprentices gain a strong understanding of industry legislation, environmental considerations, and health and safety requirements, ensuring they work to the highest professional standards.

The programme combines hands-on workplace experience with structured off-the-job training, allowing apprentices to apply theoretical knowledge in real working environments. Learners are supported by qualified industry professionals and work towards achieving the competencies required to operate safely within domestic or commercial gas settings (as determined by employer scope).

We tailor delivery to reflect employer requirements, ensuring training aligns with business operations, compliance responsibilities, and workforce development needs. This approach supports both apprentice progression and employer growth.

At the end of the programme, apprentices complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate occupational competence and readiness to work as a Gas Engineering Operative.
