Level 2 Barbering Professional

The Level 2 Barbering Professional Apprenticeship Standard is designed for individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in the barbering industry. This apprenticeship equips learners with the practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours required to work effectively in a modern barbershop environment.

Throughout the programme, apprentices develop competence in key barbering techniques including consultation, cutting men’s hair using a range of methods, beard and moustache trimming and shaping, outlining, and finishing services. Learners also gain essential knowledge in health and safety, infection control, client care, communication, and maintaining a professional image — all crucial to delivering high-quality services.

Training is delivered through a combination of practical salon-based experience and structured off-the-job learning, ensuring apprentices build confidence while working with real clients. Apprentices are supported by experienced tutors and industry professionals to ensure they meet current industry standards.

At the end of the programme, apprentices will complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate their competence and readiness to work as a qualified barber.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for employment as a professional barber, with opportunities to progress into senior barber roles, self-employment, or further advanced qualifications within the hair and barbering sector.
